Helms 21
The Helms 21 is an excellent boat for inshore and offshore use.
Her knife-like entry tames the seas and her variable degree hull design gives you access to back country water you could not even dream of in a deep V-hull.
Step aboard a Helms 21 and you will notice that she is very stable. Push the throttle forward and hang on as she planes out quickly and cuts through a chop with the ease and comfort of a much bigger boat. Push the throttle wide open and marvel at her speed, 50+mph with most 200hp outboards.
Aside from the fact that you could run circles around most other boats of its size, you can do it while burning very little fuel. Cruising at 4000 rpm, which is roughly 40mph with a 200hp DFI 2-stroke engine, fuel burn is between 6 and 7 gph on average. So with a 96-gallon fuel tank you could go over 550 miles on one tank of fuel. That’s equivalent to going from Miami to Bimini and back 3 ½ times!
The Helms 21 construction is second to none.
The hull is 100% composite and it is hand built. This allows for a very lightweight hull that is incredibly strong. This also translates into better fuel economy and an easier to handle boat. Another advantage is that the tow weight is low allowing most small and mid sized trucks and SUVs to tow it.
The hull is almost completely filled with foam for your safety. Every compartment has either a gutter or a watertight hatch. The deck is self-bailing and the cooler and fish boxes drain overboard as well. The electrical system is heavy duty using tinned copper wire with waterproof connectors, switches, circuit breakers and main line fuses.
We have done our best to make sure your Helms 21 is as low maintenance as possible so you can enjoy your time on the water.
Last but not least are the fishing features that are built into every Helms 21.
Pop up cleats and bow light are standard so you don’t snag lines or stub toes. The live-well is plumbed, lighted and actually holds it’s rated capacity. Four gunnel rod holders are standard and more are optional. Additional rod storage is under each gunnel. The two large insulated fish boxes under the forward casting deck drain overboard for easy clean up and have no pumps to break or clog.
Options available include tackle locker, console rod holders, raw water wash down and just about anything else you can think of.
The Helms 21 also keeps everyone comfortable with seating for 6 people, built in cooler and plenty of dry storage.
Things such as bow cushions to lie out on and Bimini or T-tops for shade are also available as an option.
